Complete Pool Safety Barrier Inspections

Our swimming pool inspections cover all safety aspects such as barrier height, gap sizes, hinges, gates, latch mechanisms, non-climbable zones, impact load, construction materials, structures within the barrier and window and door heights.

Transparent Reporting

Our pool safety barrier inspections include a clear, detailed report of our findings. If any non-compliance issues are found, we offer guidance on how to fix them.

Re-inspections

Pool safety re-inspections are included as over 90% of pools will require more than one inspection.

Swimming Pool Certificate of Barrier Compliance

You will be given a Swimming Pool Certificate of Barrier Compliance to lodge with council once the safety barrier has been confirmed as compliant by the pool inspector. You will have fulfilled your obligations for 4 years.

Non Compliance

If your barrier is deemed “Non Compliant,” you will need to make the necessary repairs or hire a tradesman to help. Owners have 60 days to fix the issues identified before the pool safety inspector returns for the second visit.

We provide free “self-assessment checklists” for property owners to evaluate their pool safety barrier inspections in Melbourne. This helps you achieve compliance during the first inspection, avoiding the need for a re-inspection. You can download the checklist from our website and we will also email it to you when your booking is confirmed with us.

Our Swimming Pool Inspections Process

How it Works

We conduct pool barrier inspections in accordance with the applicable standard which is found on the registration letter from the council. If your pool/spa barrier complies with Victoria’s pool fencing regulations, you will be given a certificate of compliance (Form 23) within 24 hours. On 1st December 2019, new laws to improve swimming pool and spa safety came into effect in Victoria. They introduced new registration, pool inspection and certification requirements for property owners. At Bayside Peninsula Pool Compliance, based in Dingley Village, we serve the Peninsula, Bayside areas, and greater Melbourne. We conduct pool barrier inspections and offer recommendations to help you meet the required standards and obtain your Certificate of Barrier Compliance. We offer a flat rate that includes up to 2 visits, as most pools need more than one inspection. You’ll receive a detailed report within 24 hours and a certificate if your pool is compliant. Any follow-up visits will be scheduled as needed and will be conducted within guidelines.

01

Register

Register your pool or spa with the relevant council.

Contact them or check their website to get more information on how to register your pool or spa, and the necessary fees. Complete the registration form and pay the fee.

The local council will give you a confirmation letter that indicates the date your pool or spa has been registered, when it was constructed, the applicable Barrier Standard, the right to appeal the construction date to the Building Appeals Board, and the date when the first or next certificate of barrier compliance must be lodged.

This letter confirms the standard against which your barrier is assessed and will be required at time of booking a pool inspection with a pool inspector.

02

Schedule

Bookings can be made via email or over the phone. This is a great opportunity to have a chat with the pool inspector about what to expect on the day and even pro-actively fix known issues.

We try and be as flexible as we can in accommodating your bookings and are more than happy to visit on the weekends and after hours for swimming pool inspections.
Below are the self-assessment checklists for each standard to assist owners in understanding the safety aspect of pool barrier inspections.

03

Inspect

Our Pool Inspector will conduct a detailed inspection of the pool and/or spa barrier. This typically takes around 30 – 45 mins. We will provide a detailed report on the same day as the pool inspection. If the pool is compliant then we will issue you a Certificate of Barrier Compliance (Form 23).

If there are any items that need to be address, these will be detailed on the pool safety report and discussed on the day, and the inspector will need to come back again to conduct a follow up pool inspection within 60 days.

Assuming follow up inspection is compliant then we will issue you a Certificate of Barrier Compliance (Form 23).

If the barrier still not up to standard a further 7 day extension can be granted. This situation will be discussed with the pool inspector should it arise.

04

Lodgement

Lodge the Certificate of Barrier Compliance (Form 23) with your local council within 30 days of inspection. Failure to do so will mean the certificate is invalid and a new pool safety inspection must occur.

This must be done by the property owner. This is valid for 4 years and we will send you a reminder 6 months before the next pool safety inspection is due.
