If your pool doesn’t meet Victorian Building Authority (VBA) regulations, you may receive a “Certificate of Barrier Non-Compliance.” This means you must make the necessary changes to bring your pool barrier into compliance within 60 days. Failure to comply may result in additional inspections, fines and in severe cases, legal action.

A pool inspection in Melbourne is essential for swimmer safety. Basic checks a pool inspector performs include:

  1. The gap between the gate and the ground must be under 10 cm to stop children from crawling under.
  2. Self-closing & self-latching of gates
  3. The opening direction of gates should be outward to prevent children from opening them.
